Ron Barassi’s legendary status as a player is widely recognised. With a playing career spanning between 1953 and 1969, Barassi made a positive mark on the game that will continue to live on.

All in all, Barassi played a total of 254 games. His exceptional skills saw him make a lifetime achievement of 330 goals and partake in six premierships with the Melbourne Football Club (in 1955, 1956, 1957, 1959, 1960 and 1964).

Throughout the duration of his playing career, Barassi played for Melbourne from 1953 to 1964. With an impressive 204 games played during this time, Barassi made a name for himself by scoring an incredible 295 goals. In his time with the Carlton Club – from 1965 to 1969 – Barassi participated in 50 games and scored 35 goals.

There’s no denying that Rob Barassi is one of the highest regarded players of all time in the AFL code. Some of his greatest playing achievements have included:

  • Captain of Melbourne (1960-1964)
  • Best and Fairest (1961 and 1964)
  • Member of the All Australian Team (1956, 1958, 1961)
